|Location:||We Hear You, 1st Floor, Frome Town Hall, Christchurch Street West, Frome, Somerset, BA11 1EB|
As a charity We Hear You (WHY) relies heavily on community fundraising across Frome, wider Somerset, Wiltshire and BANES. As a volunteer community fundraiser you will be playing a direct and pivotal role in the sustainability of the professional counselling service that WHY offers whilst having fun and making new friends!
You can get involved by helping out at the many and varied fundraising events that WHY holds every year, there is no minimum time requirement and you are eligible to claim for any out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of your fundraising for us.
You can help with engaging and raising the profile of WHY through local businesses, schools and community groups, or by organising and running your own fundraising events to support the service.
We have a dedicated fundraising team who are on hand to support all our volunteers who can help in providing any training and references to future employers. This role would be suitable for anyone over the age of 18 (due to insurance) and can fit in around any full-time or part-time working commitments due to the flexible nature of the position.
Please get in touch if you have any questions! We look forward to hearing from you.
We Hear You (WHY) is a free professional one-to-one counselling service for anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer or another life threatening illness. This includes any family, friends and carers as well as patients. WHY also offers bereavement counselling.
The counselling staff at WHY are professionally trained, experienced and adhere to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or alternative professional body.
As an organisational member of BACP, WHY is bound by it’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the professional Conduct Procedure for the time being in force.
We offer adult counselling at a variety of locations including Frome, Bath, Warminster, Trowbridge, Weston-super-Mare and Yeovil; children’s counselling in Frome and at The Hub, John of Gaunt school in Trowbridge; and counselling for young people at Frome Community College, Selwood Academy and Matravers School in Westbury . Positive Action on Cancer was founded in 1994 initially as a telephone helpline for women affected by breast cancer by Jill Miller. In 1998 research indicated the need for a counselling service rather than a telephone helpline. In 2016 we re-branded as We Hear You (WHY).
