Victim Support

Name: Victim Support Community Service Volunteers
Organisation: Victim Support
Location: Victim Support, Vassall Centre, Unit 9.4, Gill Avenue, Bristol, BS16 2QQ
Type: Part Time
Flexible volunteering with a minimum commitment of 5 hours a week

Description

We are recruiting Victim Support community service volunteers to give emotional support to victims of crime across Avon and Somerset. No previous experience is necessary but enthusiasm, empathy and commitment are essential.

• Gain experience giving direct support to vulnerable people.
• Build knowledge of the Criminal Justice System.
• Receive specialist training
• All expenses reimbursed
• Opportunities to specialise within ASB (antisocial behaviour), domestic violence, serious crime and sexual violence

You will be contacting and providing confidential emotional support to people who have been victims of crime, either over the phone, at the victim’s home, or in agreed community settings. You will receive excellent training and there are plenty of opportunities to progress.

We are currently recruiting for our next round of core training in May. Attendance at all four training days is a mandatory requirement for all volunteers and we will be asking for confirmation of availability before arranging interviews.

We ask for a minimum of 12 months commitment. Volunteering is flexible and we encourage you to volunteer at least five hours per week. This can be done alongside work or other commitments, during the daytime, of an evening or of a weekend.

You will receive a full induction, training and one-to-one support. All normal expenses will be reimbursed. We will also ask you for two references and completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

The dates of our core training in May are as follows:

• Thursday 17th May
• Friday 18th May
• Thursday 24th May
• Friday 25th May
