Description

Who we are and Why we need your help
Marie Curie is the UK’s leading charity for people with a terminal illness and their families. We are best known for providing hands-on nursing care day and night in people’s homes and expert, round-the-clock care in our nine hospices.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly volunteer to help us raise money and awareness for Marie Curie.
Your role will be to place collection boxes in local businesses such as newsagents, chemists, pubs and doctors’ surgeries all within the local community. The more boxes you can place and collect the more money you will raise for Marie Curie.
You will be a big part of making this happen by seeking out new premises, visiting where you have placed the collection boxes, collecting, recording, counting and banking donations and issuing thank you cards to the local business owners. This is a flexible volunteering role that can be done anytime suitable, it would usually work out about 2 days every three months.

Its surprising just how much can be raised in collection boxes throughout the year.
Last year in Somerset over 350 people with a terminal illness had a Marie Curie nurse through the day and night and the work our volunteers do in local communities is invaluable in providing this care’.
